I very rarely follow a pattern, especially if machine knitting. This means just about everything on this page - unless otherwise specified - was both designed and made by me. If I make the same things in subsequent years (often the case with charity knits) they only get added to the gallery once.
Fairisle cushions, using yarn from my stash. Closed with buttons and buttonholes.
A 'sun' jumper for the same grandchild who had the butterfly one for Christmas. She had changed her mind, and I'd forgotten... so she now has two.

These were all for my grandchildren. Some are machine-knitted, and some are hand-knitted. (I've put the Christmas jumpers in a section of their own as there are so many of them.)
Intarsia jumper with a circle, triangle and square on the front (machine knit). This has proved very popular, and he is still wearing it although it's a bit on the small side now!
A dinosaur jumper in intarsia (machine knit). The dinosaur designs are Ruth Horrocks designs for electronic and punchcard machines. I used them as guides for intarsia.
Emilia (aged 7) designed her own cardigan, and then (with help) knitted the back using holding position to put a large triangle (similar to the one on the front in the picture) in position. She then left me to do the sleeves and fronts, and to sew it together.
Not necessarily a more prolific year - just one in which I remembered to take photos!
Hats for the homeless - hand-knitted, using up yarn from my stash. Pattern is called Danny Boy - it's not mine.
A set of baby clothes and an adult hat. The hats are the Danny Boy pattern. I think the rest was a Drops pattern. Again, using up yarn from my stash (all hand-knit, all for charity).

Machine-knit hats, scarves and fingerless mitts for the homeless. The hats not my pattern - found on YouTube and knitted on the Passap. It has an automatically folded brim that you can't do on a Japanese machine.
A baby blanket I made for a neighbour. Crochet (unusual for me) and again using up yarn from my stash.
A baby blanket knitted on the Passap with one strand of 2/30 acrylic. It drapes beautifully, and is so fine. I also made versions with 3-ply and 4-ply acrylic using alternate needles.
Christmas stocking... I made a LOT for a fair! (Machine-knit.)
Although I knitted quite a lot in 2023, I took very few photos. Lots of work on the machine to illustrate techniques, but very few of the finished items!
A baby blanket (knit-weave, machine knit) using 1 strand of 2/30s acrylic as the background and a multi-coloured viscose yarn as the weaving yarn. It draped beautifully and was a gift for grandchild number 9.
A Christmas bauble, designed for a workshop I was delivering at a the Knitting & Crochet Guild convention that year.
2022 is really when I started photographing what I'd made. It's about a year after I started writing Across the Needlebed (an online machine knitting publication for the Knitting & Crochet Guild), and I needed photographs to accompany the articles I was writing.
Thomas designed his own jumper - and I then had to knit it (machine knit, using a combination of intarsia and holding position).
Emilia initially designed her own dress - but then sorted through the yarns and wanted butterflies, so her own design wasn't used. Instead, her dress (machine knit) used a standard Stitch World pattern that looked like a lace butterfly. The yarn was from my stash, and the dress is lined in a pale blue acrylic (partly to keep the 'itch' of the crepe away from her skin).
A craft day - Thomas and Emila made snowmen on the knitting machine (with crepe paper hats).
A hand-knitted cardigan to use up the various bits of green Caron yarn I had. I feel that maybe the basic shape came from a pattern (can't remember) but the colourway and the embroidery are my own.
A tuck-lace machine-knitted scarf, using Ffluf from Macintosh Yarns. Technically a hand-knit yarn - very soft. But, with care, it knitted up beautifully!
